So I've been playing around with some settings in the poi_visibilities and other files in the branding folder and I think I have a fix for those icons that are named wrong. I believe I also figured out a way to make the icon strips consistently to be able to do all the icons at once and not be stuck halfway because of a program error.
So what I am doing now is updating gas station icons first. I am finding that there are new stations with an updated poi, but they removed stations as well. What I have done is make a merged list to show all icons no matter which poi version you have. Only one small problem is the lack of pictures on the internet for some of the stations, so I have no idea what logo and colors to use. These will have to be a generic icon. If there are any station icon you would like me to add then find a picture for me to make it. There are some smaller franchises out there that just don't have any pictures online. This will take a little time since each icon takes from 5 to 20 minutes. Total gas icons are 132, but I'll bet most of these won't have any pics online for me to reference.
Next on my list will be some new restaurants and stores which should go faster than the stations.
Total icons to go according to my spreadsheet is 260
Wish me luck.
They're not the best icons and I probably have most of them. What I need is A-1, coastal, foodmart, gant, general, lakeside, marathon, minimart....ETC ETC. These names are either so generic, or nowhere to be found online. BTW, in case you were wondering those are names of gas stations.
Here is an example. I'm now on "Classic" This is a gas station POI. Search Google for Classic and you will find old stuff, including music. How the heck can I make an icon for this, unless I just write the word "Classic" on a round icon. That's no fun.

145 icons to go. I'm almost finished with the gas stations and will finish up restaurants and shops quickly afterward.

Hello!
You dud an amazing job!
But... The navigation screen is small ond overfilled by info. Is it pissible to make a simplified version of this brandubg for gas stations? Just a logos in square shape, nothing more. I believe that the key for informative and easy readable navigation is simplicity
You have, probably, all sources, so it probably not to huge work to do some chenges. And I can probably help you with icons if you would like.

I've been working a little on some newer icons and some upgraded icons. No too much that's new.
Update. I've added icons and updated some older crappy ones. I haven't tried it on 2.4 so I don't know if it will work. I have fixed the poivisibilities so the gas station names aren't different on each line as pointed out by varso. To install please see the first post.
Bugs:When "search on map" is used the icons look washed out. I don't know why. I don't write the software that encodes the bitmaps.
I personally like that the gas station icons are like the Marquis that you see on the street, so I won't be redoing hundreds of icons just to make them square and plain like other branding.
Spoiler: download link
Comments are welcome, good or bad, just don't hurt my feelings too much![]()

Hi everyone in this wonderful 2020. /s
I've been playing around with my icons and believe I have a solution to the "branding". I put branding in quotes because I don't need the branding.zip anymore. I've always used it on a wince system but never got it to run properly on an android version until today. What I do is inject my files into the data.zip directly. What this means is in theory I can inject it into any data.zip on wince, Android and POSSIBLY Nextgen. I haven't tried Nextgen yet but will do so eventually.
If anyone is interested in testing it you can upload your data.zip to me and I'll try it out. I have 800x600 but I could also try other resolutions with the gas icons. (It would take a while to do all icons).
Hello @zzyzxroad,
I'm interested in your post above as I've been messing about with branding.zip file for a few weeks and am struggling to get consistent results. Is it possible to post your data.zip with a brief outline of the changes you have made so I can try your methods? Having you change my data.zip wont help much as I'm in New Zealand and very few (if any) USA Petrol companies operate here.
