Default Garmin Dezl 580 LMT-D Brick

    Hi to all,

Garmin Dezl 580 was updated by Garmin Express with latest firmware and 2022.1 EU maps. After mandatory restarting for the firmware update everything went fine, device booted normally and finished the update process, than map update was done. Device was fine with the new maps everything looks normal even 2-3 manual reboots was done, but the next day when i try to power up the device wont start even 3 hours on a original charger also tried on original usb cable supplied by Garmin. The USB socket is fine because is drawing a little power around 0.2mA. If someone has this problem maybe can help. Cant boot device anymore, no power at all and no usb connection.

    Thanks in advance.

For the start, try to remove the battery for a few minutes.

"....no power at all and no usb connection" = no way to recover using a software solution unfortunately.

Unless janch's suggestion of removing the battery for a while re-livens it you can strip it for parts because it's dead. I get that you're unlikely to know the history of the device however if it's been cross-flashed without clearing non-vol memory there's a chance region 154 is poisoned, or wrong data has been written to region 5 which is the bootloader. The other possibility is simply that the flash chip has failed suddenly and dramatically.

Have you tried these steps from Garmin?
Spoiler: Charging a nuviCam or dezlCam Device

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    From Garmin:

Use the vehicle power cable that came with your device.

A full charge may take up to 6 hours

All devices come with a vehicle power cable to charge the device

This is the recommended method for charging your device
    .

Also read the info on nuviCam or dezlCam Frozen or Not Powering On <------------Important info...

If that does not work contact Garmin support the Garmin is not that old.

Probably it's got a corrupt gupdate.gcd loaded in its hidden .System folder. You'll need to load cure firmware if the device won't enter Mass Storage Mode.
