No, did not a hard reset and cannot do that. I'am in the middle of a trip, going to Canada in a couple of days and do not want to risk the GPS operation.

When the nuvi shows JCV, the button do disapear, so there no big loss on screen area, afterall.

The concern is more that it may be a symptom of some other problem, i.e. a firmware glitch maybe. What version are you running, 4.9? If you have earlier fw, after you finish your trip to Canada you should update the fw (and hard reset both before & after the fw update). No doubt you'll be home soon (you probably won't want to stay there long, the place is absolutely chock full of Canadians!). I can understand that you don't wish to do a reset at the moment, but if your problem is only a symptom as i suspect you may eventually have to do it if other strange behaviour surfaces during your trip. Well, learn something new everyday (then forget it 5 minutes later in my case). If 3790 has not had that setting 'More Data' enable since new (or after a reset) only 3 usual options are available when pressing the button next to the return arrow:

Then with 'More Data' selected:

and even after resetting it back to 'Standard' in 'More Data', the extra options remained as selectable for the single button on the bottom. Now for the 'forget it 5 minutes later' part: I must have done something else to get those extra options, 'coz i couldn't replicate it after i did a reset and was only seeing the original 3 usual options even with 'More Data' selected. Then the battery went flat and the cradle's out in the other car so i can't find it again. Any ideas Guys (& Gal)?

EDIT: OK, got the cradle back.
Found it: the extra options are only available if driving or simulating a route, then the 3 buttons can be customised... silly me!

Silly me !

As I mentioned before, I changed something that O could not remember and that caused the display to change !
And that was ...... more data on the map data layout, as pointed out by x-trail.

After restoring it, I got back just two buttons, "Direction of travel / Elevation / Time of day" and the regular Speed. Wide map area now available.

Yes, good things sometimes do come out of stuff-ups. If you had hard reset your nuvi before you posted initially Carlos, you would have got the standard screen back with the single lower button and then neither you or i would have learned about what was enabled by 'more data' under 'map data layout'. Silly us, mate!
