I think I got it I performed a hard reset and it appeared like it was always there. I will try homeport.

    Edit...
Okay... I got HomePort installed. When I put the SD card in the computer Homeport recognized the map and started loading but then turned red halfway through...

I am running patched Homeport... Also the map shows fine now on my GPS. What gives... How do I get HomePort to show the map? And I have read and read and just cant seem to find the answer so hopefully someone can point me in the correct direction.

That was perfect. Exactly what I was missing. I had read that a dozen times and still missed it. So now HomePort sees the map and will show it off the thumbdrive but MapInstall wont recognize it and if I just drag it into my collection the HomePort wont show it. Is there anyway to get the map onto the C Drive so I dont need the thumbdrive?

You have to navigate to get to the good.

Okay so that worked well but I still cant transfer from HomePort to the GPS using the software based "send to device"

Is that possible? It would be nice to be able to connect the GPS to the computer via USB and then just transfer changes and suck to the GPS.

No....for shortcut and transfer the map to GPS,use MapInstall (run in automatic with Homeport and BaseCamp)...but,unfortunately the BC maps, are not in MSV (ok,only some of them and dated )....if only IMG,so nothing the shortcut

Or use GmapTool for install the BC in Mapsource: here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Bye,bye

I have a Garmin nuvi 40 LM and although Garmin says it is not a supported device, I wanted to try it anyway. However, no matter what I did, the map would not show up in my GPS.
I found a solution to my problem of installing Garmin Lakes on an SD card for Garmin nuvi 40 LM and wanted to post it, in case someone else has the same issues.

I downloaded and extracted the (15) .rar archives. I unlocked the file "US_GarminLakes_Full.img", using gimgunlock. (like a boss)
Now came the problem... I copied and pasted the US_GarminLakes_Full.img file to the sd card as follows: "sd\Garmin\Map\", as per instructions on this thread. ~ It did not show up in my Garmin 40.
I tried just about everything and was about to give up, when I tried this:
I deleted all the folders on the SD card. I created a folder on the SD card as "Map" (No Garmin folder). I pasted the .img into that folder and it worked like a charm! Just one folder on the root drive named 'Map'. I put other maps into that folder that would not show up before and now they do!
Evidently, this nuvi 40 doesn't use a "Garmin" folder...?

Anyway, I hope this helps someone else with the same or similar problem.

As a side note, I lost my junction view in the process, so it wasn't a complete win/win situation. But since it was the low-res default JCV, I 'll take the trade!

Where did you read this above? "sd\Garmin\Map\" is wrong. Maps naming depends on devices. Nuvi 40 uses Map/anyname.img , outdoors (those supporting this map posted here) use Garmin/gmapsupp.img or Garmin/anyname.img: same as Basecamp

I know it has been like forever since this was discussed, but I wonder if anyone has or has a link to this archive. I bought a used boat that has a 545s on it and would like to get better detail for the lakes I fish in Colorado.
The link to the archive reports no longer there. Also, Norton whines about the tools being riddled with viruses.
