    Smile Help with Garmin Nuvi 200

    Hey,
    I have Nuvi 200 with slot for SD card but never seen SD with "original" mapsource files. I have sucessfully used single maps for different countries from my Garmin folder but since City Navigator is very big I need to put it on an SD card. Tried several times with different files but when I start the device it does not recognize the maps on the card. Please, advise if there is a specific folder structure on the SD card or something ...
    Thank a lot in advance for the support.

    BR,
    KDA

    Hi,

    You can not just copy MapSource maps to device. MapSource maps are for PC and not for device. You must have MapSource program installed on PC and export them from MapSource to device.

    Select maps You want to transfer (could be multiple maps and multiple countries) in MapSource,
    in top menu select "Transfer -> Send To Device...",
    select Your device from drop-down list, and press "Send".

    ==================================
    am not sure i understand--

    your device will support an sdhc card up to 32 gb of which only 4gb is useful for maps ---since its garmin directory will support only map name gmapsupp.img

    if it is an unlocked map just that file
    if it is a locked map then that garmin direc tory needs a gmapsupp.img & gmapsupp.unl
    ====

    a gps can display only one area at a time so when two maps try to display the same area the autoroute will sit on top and must be desilected if you want to see the one trying to display on the bottom.
    ================
    t think your map on the internal memory of your gps is displaying and needs to be removed or deselected-

    I created a garmin directory on the sd card and moved my originally installed map from the device memory to the card but for some reason it does not recognize it at all
    tried several times with city navigator 2008 on the sd still does not work
    that is why I was asking if there is something specific on the directory structure of the card

    you need the map id

    to unlock an unlocked IMG
    rename the map gmapsupp.img and unlock with jetmouse keygen creating the unl file with notepad
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    on jetmouse keygen v1.5 put either the 10 digit gps unit id number (will be unlocked only in your gps)or the sd serial # (it will be unlocked in any gps you put the sd card
    under-select map product --on the bottom ---custom map set---add the maps FID# also called mapid #

    click generate a few times on the bottom-all those numbers will unlock the map--copy that 25 digit number into the gmapsupp.unl file --- don't add a enter --just 25 digits on the first line ----
    on a sd card create a garmin directory--in that directory copy your gmapsupp.unl file (unlock file) and the gmapsupp.img
    When you save the .UNL file in Notepad, be sure you set the "Save as type" to "All Files", not "Text Documents".

    i am waiting for my device to arrive. I am buying a brandnew SD card and gonna copy the downloaded .img file and create a notepad file with unlock key and save it as .unl file and copy them into a new garmin directory. Anything else to do to keep the map working?

    Default Downloading map on a Garmin Nuvi 200

    I went to a website described on YouTube, and downloaded a Garmin North America map. This file is unlocked and I changed the name to gmapsupp.img and put it in a file entitled "Garmin" on a formatted 4GB SDHC card. According to this YouTube website, this should have worked, but I am having no luck. I know that the SD card works in the Nuvi 200 because a photo that I put on there displayed on the Nuvi. Also I updated the software on Garmin express so I know that that is not the problem. I hope that someone can tell me what I am doing wrong.

    Everything looks ok.
    Reason of failure can be:
    corrupt .img
    .img is locked or badly unlocked.
    old .unl or .gma file have been left in nuvi
    Another map named gmapsupp.img is present in nuvi internal memory.
    etc. etc. more details are needed and please take a look here too:
