Thanks soo much Catymag. Now I can see the *.img files. There is only problem: I was hoping to see either contour lines or the actual DEM image. Is there a way to get that from these files?
    Thanks again.

Try this --> Garmin: BaseCamp Updates & Downloads

Image files (.img) load as is in BaseCamp. No need for GMaptool unpacking. Put .img file in Maps folder on SD card and place in reader. If it is a topo map with elevation info BaseCamp will display in 2D or 3D (as long as video cards supports it).
