This process worked perfectly for me. I have updated several 2720s and they are all now running current maps.
Big thumbs up to ultrasheer.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have bought two US models 2720 to replace our two broken 2610's.
The new America models came with CNNT America v.7 and v.8 . Both where updated online by the seller to CNNTAmerica v. 2011.11
So finally I got the 2720 that is registerd for CN EU maps up and going...nearly...
I can't get it to search for adresses...the screen tells me: No detail maps are available to search.
All other POI is ok..no problems to route to them...
Anyone have an idea what can be done ??
Regards

The procedure work for me on my WinXP computer. Now I have a Win 7 64 bit computer and I can not get the .bat file to work. I have changed the path to what I think is the correct path "program files (x86)".
C:\Program Files(x86)\Garmin\WebUpdater\WebUpdater.exe /upload_file rgn=49 path=C:\Program Files(x86)\Garmin\gmapprom.img -autorun usb /i
Help . . . .

I just purchase this SP2720, but still waiting for it (maybe take about one m
onth from US to Indonesia)
I'm curious how it will perform (since it the first time i bought GPS)
Is that possible to view Garmin .img Map (City Navigator Indonesia NT) on Windows XP SP2
without having the device? any Link will be appreciated
You can view the image file of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or any CN [even a locked version] in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
Not sure what you're asking about how it will perform though. SP 2720 is an older device, but is versatile, robust and reliable. It doesn't have all the fancy extras available in modern units.

Had try to download Basecamp at garmin8 website, but unfortunately its wrote for WinXP SP3 or above, mine only SP2.
So i only need those Basecamp software to view Garmin .img files thru computer ? no need another software ?
Actually i bought them only because they are look sexy to me
i'm not a fan of big screen
Thank's i already read all of this thread, some understand some not
I've read this once in a forum, not tested but you can try to use this method:
Change sp2 to sp3 :
Run, type Regedit.
Backup Regedit.
Then go to HKEY_LOCOL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Windows.
CSDVersion, right click, select Modify to display Edit DWORD Value for sp2, it is usually 200. change it to 300 and then choose OK
Close the Registry Editor.
Reboot the machine. The machine will now think that you’ve applied SP3 when you’re actually running Windows XP SP2.

Report back please, keep in mind all your system will appear as XP SP3, not only for Basecamp.
