Can someone please garmin test a tour I have made?
Hi,
I have created a very basic tour, it has 3 locations, very little text and some test audio.
I have not created anything fancy as this is just a test to see if i am doing things correctly before i create something more complex.
anyway, i loaded the .gpi file to my Garmin 1300 and choose the tour from my custom poi menu.
the locations show up and the can view the text and test images i uploaded, however the audio does not play.
as i am 300 miles away from this location that I created i cannot be there to test it in real time so have had to view what i can as it is.
however, if i choose the car mode and simulate the route it takes me to the location but does not show me the text, image or audio, the same goes for the bike option.
as the pedestrian option cannot be simulated i cannot test that.
my main question is why does the audio not play.
anyway, can anyone download and install the test file i created and see if it work for them and let me know what you see/hear?

thanks for that, that is the same as i can get.
however here is what i figured out so far,
I have tried converting the audio to wav but the poi loader does not recognise the xml file that is required using the website above i created it with, the xml file holds all the crutial data required.
it has an option to download a gpx file but it has less info on it and acts as a poi only so no additional audio is played.
the poiloader does not recognise the xml file only gpx ones so there is no way to upload the xml file + data folders to garmin in gpi format.,
the link above gives option to download all files and raw data, maybe someone can play about with things and see if they can get the xml data and data to work?
If I upload the gpx file and data files with poiloader, it shows the same images as above, but no audio is played, the only audio is played when you reach the destination and the audio is played as an alert.
somehow i need to get the xml + data folders converted into a gpi file and see how that works, but cannot fathom that out.Last edited by urbexuk; 14th September 2011 at 07:30 PM.

Read this link. It probably will be of help, but ignore the thing about the audio being limited to MP3. WAV files can be used if you have sox.exe in your POI Loader directory.

Well then, you might want to work on getting POI Loader working because you're going to need it. I don't believe Extra POI Editor 5.x supports TourGuide creation. I did download what you provided, and I'll look it over. Other than that I can't do much with it. Creating the TourGuide myself doesn't do either of us any good. It doesn't do you any good because you don't learn how it's done. It doesn't do me any good because I couldn't test it even if I did create it. I don't have maps of England since I live in the US.
