I know you said you tried it on other computers, but give this a try on the computer that has WebUpdater installed.
    Open WINDOWS EXPLORER
    Click on Tools
    Then Folder Options
    Then open View tab
Put check mark under "show hidden files and folder"- (Windoes Default is unchecked)
UNCHECK "hide extensions for known file types" (Windows Default is Checked)
UNCHECK "hide protected operating system files (Recomended)" Windows Default is Checked)

DISREGARD any warning message that follows after modifying.

Reboot the computer and check to see if the Nuvi 765T is now recognized.

This is the first thing I do to any PC I am working on. I hate how the files are hidden etc. My PC is already set just the way you specify.

Download this and rename to GUPDATE.gcd and add on SD card in folder Garmin.

Put SD card in your nuvi and turn ON.

On screen you will se loader when is finish your nuvi turn on with FW 4.30

    Try now connect to PC
Updated from 3.80 to 4.30 with no problem via SD card. Thanks for the file link! Still does not connect to PC though. It must be the port on the unit is defective.

The OP could learn to use the LDR.Bin commands to copy the contents of the Nuvi to Memory card, etc, etc
There is a lot you can do actually.
It would be nice if someone made a nice tutorial for people that have lost their USB ports to "safely" use the LDR.Bin commands.

It would be nice if I can copy the 2012 map to the Nuvi internal memory from the SD card then I can take the SD card out. Will the LDR.bin commands allow that?

    The Answer is Yes,
The commands requires some skills and if used incorrectly can "brick" a Nuvi. I myself am a complete "noob" at using the commands and have only used it to read and write region 101 on a 1300, At some stage I need to upgrade my skills in this area as well.
Maybe one of the more skilled members could put together a mini tutorial for you to do this task.
On the other hand it is safer to use the memory card, as in your case if the nuvi bricks it will be very difficult to unbrick it due to the usb port not working.
