Nuvi 3790 problem while on navigation mode

So when I'm on navigation mode with my nuvi 3790 and then swipe my finger on the screen, it will show the map in bird's eye view (top view) but zoomed out where I cannot see properly the streets and it shows the whole route. This is not ideal for very long routes. This was not the case when I first got my unit (before upgrading to the latest firmware), before when I swipe my fingers on the screen it will go into bird's eye view mode but still zoomed in the street you are currently on. This will make it easy to scroll around the map in zoomed in view.

What am I missing here?

This it's a change (or bug) occurred in the latest 37xx firmwares, it changed with sw 4.50.
When touching screen, nuvi shows full route instead of area near current position.
If you want to have back the old way, downgrade or convert to 34xx.

Hmmm ok. Is SW 4.50 the latest firmware? Did garmin not yet address this?

The latest one is 5.00 released yesterday.
Here 37xx firmwares list:

For current location you can go to WhereTo->Coordinate and see closest region. Unfortunately this not working for other location with option: Search near. I prefer to point a destination on map, but on navigation mode I do not see working map by find with option Search near in other place

I understand you. If you choose WhereTo->Coordinate->View on Map your map will be focus on area closest to current position. This will make it easy to scroll around the map in zoomed in view.

Oh ok. Will you do this DURING navigation mode?

How does this work if I am on points of interest route?

I just tried Giomen suggestion and it does work.
Once you get the small map screen on the right just touch the map and you will see the map zoomed in.
