Hi all
I have 2 off the etrex "yellow" and have been using these for years when I go out prospecting also have an HP iPac hx2100 with a GPS flash module with OziCE beta 1 " now running 2.35a" so as you can see am running old but reliable gadgets, if your units are using the US GPS system they have SA set to about 4mtrs and that is plenty accurate to find home camp, I only use the 2100 for in car tracking and recording and the etrex for walking many Kilometers looking for that elusive Gold and have spare batteries in my pocket.

Edit: So what sort of Devices do you use when you are traveling or camping etc.

Has anybody else used a PDA with GPS adapter and mapping software to do trip logging???
Just looking at Kyocera Torque having MIL-STD-810 G standard from MWC...seems interesting...I have been having Garmin GPSMAP 60CSX. It is an incredible device.
Hi ddabcd277
Does the phone still give GPS mapping when out of range of signal?
That gpsmap 60csx looks colourful and when both of my Etrex die will look at one that has maps and colour.

@alamel
Have you noticed any difference in the reported accuracy readings shown by your etrex and 255?

Can you disable WAAS on your eTrex Legend HCx? That would be a fairer 'accuracy' comparison with a car unit like your Nuvi255. Some WAAS/SBAS enhanced devices are switchable.
@IGNATRON
Your etrex 'yellow' units have grey or mono screen? That could be the discontinued eTrex/eTrex H (both WAAS), or the current eTrex 10 which can also receive both GLONASS and GPS signals simultaneously. Either way, can you disable GLONASS and/or WAAS then do a comparative side-by-side accuracy test with your 2100?

I think I can disable WAAS on my eTrex Legend HCx but I prefer an accurate off road GPS for hiking , geocatching ... I have no problem with my Nuvi255 it always drive me to the exact point. 50 feets off in adresse search is not a big problem.
