Have you tried to contact Garmin directly, sometimes they replace defective components without charge, even if out of warranty.
You'd have shipping cost only.
Folks
I have a 3790T (already discussed it here a couple of times) that is not working.
I sent it to a shop (here in Brasil) and the dignostic is that the component that controls the (re)charge of the battery is defective. This seems in line with the problem that I noticed when using the device.
Since the shop is in another state, I have no way to say if this diagnostic is acurate or not.
Questions are:
is there such component ? Some sort of "processor" or "controller" for the battery charge ?
The cost (parts and workmanship) of this component (down here) is around US$130.00
Any ideas ? Thanks !
