can i search on google map on my iphone or android and send the co-ordinate to garmin device? so garmin device can bring me to that area
Hi,
I've used Smartphone link on an Android device connected to a nuvi 2475. Worked well the short time I had used it. Check the compatibility list for supported devices in the link tom1807 posted.
Νο you cannot do it with the latest versions of Smartphone Link and Google Maps or Apple Maps.
Only with very old versions was possible.
Android:
Latest version of Google Maps does not Share coordinates anymore, but only the exact adrress and a "short link" for PC Google Maps
Latest version of Smartphone Link does not Share a point on its (HERE) map with with Google Maps any more.
Latest version of Smartphone Link does not accept coordinates from another program.
I used OSMand Maps to mark a point and share it to Navigon Android and it was received OK as coordinates, but when I shared it to Smartphone Link, it just opened its Here map.
iPhone:
Same things, using both Google and Apple Maps, no transfer ability to Smartphone Link from both apps..
I think this is also location dependent and the application you use:
For Android exist 2 versions:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which is from Garmin
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which is from Garmin Corporation
As you can see from the name of the App, the second is for APAC area (and hasn't been updated for 9 months).
Due the OP lives in Singapore, the second app provides the functionality he is looking for.
Cheers
Tom
