Red face Changing default map in Nuvi 1490

    Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue I'm having with a Nuvi 14190.

So basically this unit was bought in the US with the US City Navigator. I need to remove this and put the ZA Streetmaps on it since the unit is now in ZA.

However, I cannot find the gmapprom.img any where on the unit or the SD card.

I have managed to upload the SSA Streetmaps on the unit, but when I switch it on, it still displays the US maps, and when I try to route to a ZA address, it cannot calculate the route.

    Anyone able to help please?

    Thanks!

    On the SD card:

    \Garmin
    gmappupdate.gsd

    \Map
    gmapupdate.gma, gmapupdate.img, gmapupdate.unl

    On the unit:

    \Map
    gmapsupp.img

all the files starting with gmapupdate.* are your north american map files. (All on the SD Card)
The current configuration should work just fine.
Try to remove the SD card from the unit and then give it a hard reset to see what happens.
Set the Unit to South Africa British English after hard reset.
Then Go outside for 10 minutes to get Sats

Now I feel like an idiot.

A hard reset did the trick, although it is showing location in Johannesburg while I am in Cape Town. Will wait until a drive tomorrow for it to get correct location via satellite.

    Thanks!
