You don't need to remove or copy over the pre-loaded regional marine chart. Just put the desired AU chart on a microSD [x:/Garmin/gmapsupp.img], insert the card in the plotter and it'll work.
So I got a UK version of the Garmin GPSMAP 557xs and it came with UK-IRE-NL g2 charts which is inbuilt.
I was wanting to know is there a way to change the inbuilt map to a map like say a Australian one and
if so how would I go about doing it?
Any help would be great

Yea I know that. But when I put it in will use it as a suppliment map but the base built in map. So when it loads up it says its using the UK maps then it will end up loading the sd card maps.
I am wanting to know if I can overwrite or replace to UK built in map with the map on my sd card.
Can it connect in Mass Storage Mode to a PC to see the internal files?

Don't know how would I connect it. There is no cable that can connect to a pc.. I know it uses wireless I think which I thought maybe there could be a way to do it that way but unsure..
Ok, i know the type of unit now. I think WiFi is only used for connecting accessories unfortunately and everything is done by writing from/copying to memory card, even software updates are done from the card. See Page 36 of the manual, under the heading 'Chartplotter Data Management':
