Reply With QuoteWell... that was easier than I thought. Instead of lifting a flap at the ribbon end of the connection, you just lift the black flap at the opposite end of the connection. See picture below. Issue solved!

Replacing screen on a nüvi 780
There's a first time for everything. March 18, 2016 marks the day that for the first time I'm attempting to replace the screen on a nüvi 780. I've replaced screens on a variety of nüvi's before, so basic relevant knowledge is present.
This particular screen has 3 connecting ribbons. Two of them are attached to the PCB by means of the usual "clip" that needs to be lifted (with care!) in order to release the ribbon. The third one I can not make out properly how it is attached to the PCB. As I don't want to force things beyond "simple repair", I'd rather ask here first how to detach this particular ribbon from the PCB. See picture below, showing the ribbon still attached as well as the new screen lying next to the unit. Thanks for any advice!

Identical screen and connections on 6x0 and 7x0. Wrecked the first one i tackled, but i'll never do that again. Had to use hot-glue and a cardboard wad to keep the 'back to front' ribbon in place because i tried to flip the clip from the wrong side and broke it. Nice you were smarter than me [for once]

Anyway, I have finished replacing the screen. You may well know that moment of truth when you switch the unit back on again to see if the screen works. Well, in this case it does, however... DANG!!!! What a disappointment...:
The darn thing is PIN locked!
I've got 7 night shifts ahead of me, so if work is quiet, it will give me some time to find the PIN by sequential trial and error...
