Thread: 2017 DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S - Cannot load unlocked maps.

I could hardly stand the poor functionality of my old Garmin unit (which had the entire world on the SD card), so I got work to buy me a 2017 model. Unfortunately, I can't get any maps other than what it came with to work on this unit. I understand that some of the newer maps cannot be unlocked to some of the newer units, but I can barely find any information online that is not very old.

I have tried unlocking my own files with gimunlock and older unlockers. I have tried using patched Basecamp to move unlockable maps to my unit and its SD card. I've tried putting these files in the .system directory as gmapprom1.img, and also in the Map and Garmin subdirectories as gmapsupp.img of both my SD card and the main unit. I have also tried adding a generated unlock code to F:/Garmin/GarminDevice.xml. Nothing is working, including older maps.

Does anyone have experience with one of these 2017 units? Will I be stuck using my old unit forever, or is there a workaround I have been unfortunate enough to not yet find out here on the Internet? Or have people just given up on bootlegging maps for Garmin?
