    Default Nuvi 3790 : current street names?

    Hello all,

    Just wondering if anyone has a way to show the current street names during driving. It would be beneficial to know the name of the current street in unfamiliar areas. It seems like Garmin never added new feature via firmware updates.

    The is, however, a setting called "Where Am I," but that requires pressing a button and very distracting while driving.

    Thanks

    Have you tried Tools->Settings->Navigation->Car->Map Detail "More"?

    @PCX
    That's simply not a feature in firmware of 37x0 series. It's unlikely that Garmin will add it in any further firmware updates as it's a long discontinued model. When 37x0 was discontinued, the same hardware was initially used for 34x0 which has a more developed firmware than 37x0 however still not supporting 'driving on' road ID feature. It's entirely possible to convert 37x0 to 34x0 because of the hardware similarity but be aware that some 37x0 running 34x0 firmware had reportedly poorer satellite accuracy than others due to having less compatible GPS chips:
