You don't have a setting issue, what you've described is likely a minor operating fault by the device or possibly a corruption in the map used. Best practice is to always hard reset a device after a firmware change, particularly if it's been downgraded. In fact the immediate 'first aid' for any weird action by a device is to hard reset or better still clear nonvol. Be aware that resetting it or clearing nonvol will wipe out your favorites so if you want to restore them later back them up first. If reset/clear nonvol doesn't fix it look at the map situation. Check the basemap is present and check that it and the detail map shows no errors in GMapTool:
