Default drivesmart 61 bluetooth smartlink connection issue

Hi, I have drivesmart 61 model and it's previously flashed with firmware 4.2, everything is fine until today..

as usual, I dropped the unprotected 4.3 firmware into system folder, updated the GPS and then clear all memory.

When I tried to connect GPS to my iphone smartlink app, the GPS connected BUT after few seconds, GPS turned off...I found out everytime I turn on smartlink, GPS will shutdown...
It happened to my other work phone as well...

I checked the error log, it says RTL trap
    error number: 6E5D8024

    What caused the issue?
    Thank you

I have the smartdrive 61 and it works perfectly.

Why would you want to do that to a very good GPS unit?

If you want other country map then buy it.

But now you screwed up the warranty and you have problems with the Bluetooth connection to your smartphone.

thanks and I just like to mess around device, lol
Now I want to share something.
my drivesmart 61 previously has patched 4.1 firmware, everything is fine until the 4.3 version...

I patched the 4.3 and drop into GPS and flashed successfully.then:
    1. smartphone link cause gps to shutdown
    2. normal road routing can cause gps get into bootloop, UNUSABLE...

I downgraded to 4.1 patched firmware using updater.exe and then upgrade to official untouched 4.3 version, now, everything is working perfect...

seems like new firmware has new algorithm or something...

RTL Trap is "Run Time Liberty Trap" and certainly can be caused by a slightly imperfect firmware but can be also caused by some minor corruption in the device's non-volatile memory region (rgn 154 in SD61). You can clear this region via the hidden menu behind the speedometer: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Perhaps even a hard reset would be sufficient but it doesn't always work as completely. Backup your favorites (Current.gpx in GPX folder) if you want to restore before reset or clearing NV. Afterwards rename the backed up Current.gpx to Temp.gpx and place it into the GPX folder, remove any new file named Current.gpx if it's been re-created then reboot).

    Thanks Butters.
One thing I forgot to bring up...
I did clear nonvol before/after flashing unprotected firmware, I noticed that my favorite places were still there...and they were still there even I did a hard reset..
My understanding is after the above two 'clear' steps, gps should has nothing at all, but still it has my personal saved spots...

There's something wrong in that case because both hard reset and clear nonvol should remove Current.gpx file. Maybe this device has some problem with it's flash memory.

Check for gpx files in you gpx folder! Non-volatile memory resetting do not delete files on flash and device can read it again to non-volatile memory after restart.
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

Did the patched 4.30 upgrade as well and have exact the same error as you after bluetooth connection.
I'll wait till the next firmware release. Have all sorts of topo maps so can't go back to the unckracked firmware :-)

RGN'ed back to the cracked 4.00 as that is the only firmware for the Drivesmart61 where everything included all the TOPO maps and the bluetooth phone connection works.
I just now promised myself to never do another firmware upgrade on this device :-)

I have the same problem, helped only downgrade the firmware to 4.10, which I had.
