    Default .System folder data can't be deleted

    There is a .system file in the SD card of my Nuvi 2597, the contains are garbled & is 16.4 GB.
    Is it required, could not delete them
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    You have serious corruption in that data. Before doing anything take a backup of whatever other data you can successfully copy. Reformat the device only with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], try to boot it to recreate GarminDevice.xml file in Garmin folder and then connect to GarminExpress to replace required data. You may need to first manually create the folder Garmin in the device root for it to attempt booting. If it still won't boot, add some of the 'known-good' folders and files you'd previously backed up, although most devices will boot completely empty. You'll need a basemap because GE won't offer to replace that: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
