Garmin Montana 600 «------Big probleme

First sorry for my bad english , i speak french!

Is not my personnal GPS, i trouble shoot for one friend

1- I started to fix it be cause big problem find satelletites and signal satellise
2- I did everything the basic thing, firmware, hard reset ect ..
3- CD Update Procedure with :Copy the gupdate.gcd file to [Montana]\Garmin\gupdate.gcd
4- on one forum said : found that the Antenna had broke off the circuit board.

7 - Normally I'm not a bad technician, except that when reassembling, I did not beware of the Power button, like the box rubber is old, he broke and pressed Power, I saw appear the page screen calibration, I stopped everything and removed the battery
8 - Now the Touch Screen no longer works, if I do the calibration procedure, with Power ..... the calibration page appears but I touch Pad does not work, impossible to calibrate

**Is there a way to do a hard reset with the micro SD and a one batch file (view that the Timing Pad does not work, pressed left corner at the top + Power is not possible!

is not possible pushing one touch screen calibration factory by sd card ?

There's no such command that can be run using SD card txt and Ldr.bin. You may be able to force a general hard-reset by downgrading the firmware to a lower version using an RGN file in preboot if you are able to attain that. In any case it may not be a reset that's required, the symptoms sound more like a hardware problem e.g. a faulty screen digitizer or an incomplete connection when the LCD ribbon was reattached to the board.

My history:

it happened after I disassembled everything the gps to check the antenna, when reassembling, I am not wary of the power button, the rubber broke and pressed power. addition of the battery, the gps opened in calibration mode, I did nothing and removed the battery. subsequently no touchscreen works!

I undid the lcd ribbon several times, no better!

I think removing the battery in calibration mode without adjusting anything was the problem

i had thought of downgrading the firmware but not tried, i will try find one tuto for to do it!
And it does not take a method that I am obliged to place the GPS in preboot mode (because not Touchscreen currently)

In many Garmins the calibration screen is preceded by a period in which the device is in preboot mode. Open Device Manager of your PC, ensure your montana is fully off then connect it to the PC (which should power it on) to see if it's recognized as "GARMIN Device" in the connected devices list for a short time before the calibration screen.

Crap of %&*?*()())_)_0-%$?* gps asking me new software Found , Would you like to continue..... yes or no, crap my touchscreen not working???

I ma sure exist one forcing batch file execute ?only button on/off working (actualy)

I don't understand what you mean by that statement. Are you referring to a test of the device's recognition in Device Manager? Because being seen or not in Device Manager is a deciding factor as to whether it's reaching preboot (an essential requirement if firmware is to be downgraded using an RGN file (*see more below)

Forget about trying to downgrade using a GCD file. It must be either done with an RGN file in preboot or with a BIN file via SD command. It also might need to be downgraded further than one version to force a hard-reset.

Providing the device will boot enough to search for the SD and execute the command it is possible to load a lower version firmware BIN file to region 14 (0x0E) using fw_all.bin with a text command executed by the corresponding Ldr.bin (boot.bin). Preboot mode is safer to use if it's attainable. *Please report on whether the device appears in Device Manager as i suggested in Post #5.

HWID IS 1275

it's just that any procedure requiring to touch a corner of screen or other same time power button is currently impossible, because touch screen is not possible at the moment

And i never made and using fw_all.bin with a text command

Does that mean you saw the montana as "GARMIN Device" in Device Manager just before the calibration screen appears on it? Yes? If so, read on because that's preboot mode when it's seen in Device Manager.

I understand that but if you're correct in your statement this isn't a hardware problem then downgrading the firmware may fix the non-responsive screen.

That's next thing to try if flashing an RGN lower version doesn't work. Find an old version GCD and convert to RGN to flash, do you know how to do that?
