I purchased a 595 Zumo used without realising it was originally purchased in Australia/New zealand, So when I connect to Garmin Express the only map updates is for these countries (not much use in the UK).
Is there a way to reflash or patch the firmware to make it seem like it is a UK model for European maps?

Welcome, unfortunately Lifetime map updates are attached to the devices ID number.
This forums rules does not allow discussion or sharing of information about Patching firmware to enable the use of unlocked maps

No, but you can manually patch it and manually put unlocked maps inside it
