Im looking to buy - nüvi 205W Portable GPS. Can anyone confirm these maps are compatible? I believe they are.
Also, post#1 shows links to 'locked' maps. Do I need to download the locked stuff? Or just skip and download unlocked? Or do I need to download everything step by step? Thanks in advanced.Last edited by todd72173; 28th November 2009 at 07:58 AM.

I bought the Nuvi 225WT instead! I got the maps loaded on my SD card. My 225WT came with 2010.10 Maps, so the .30 maps are prob not much newer.
I did not update anything else on it.
Let me know if I need to update the mapsource or anything else. Seems fine just running the new maps from SD card. Thanks for all your help!Last edited by todd72173; 29th November 2009 at 12:25 AM.

Thanks for the updates! Should I still copy the Lane Ass. and 3D buildings files from the first post to my Nuvi 765T if the ones on the Nuvi are newer date?

Cananda and Mexico unlocked maps are not recognized on my Nuvi255WT. Yes, I have them installed on SD card>Garmin folder. Named "gmapsupp.img" and "gmapsup2.img". I tried just adding one file - nothing. Rebooted.
Settings>Map>Map Info - only map that shows is the one on my Internal card "North America 2010.30 unlocked"
I even copied over the original map that came with my 255WT (2010.10) onto SD card and it did recognize and display it fine in map info (both maps appeared with checks). So I know I am placing it in right folder and naming it correctly.
Do these Cananda&Mexico maps not work with Nuvi 255wt?

there are some devices that will except the name gmapsup2.img(on a sd card) but a 255 isn't one of them--
suggest either merge the maps with mapsource or with gmaptool,exe--into a single gmapsupp.img----it will except a 4gb file-

That worked! I used gmaptool and merged both canada and mexico into one file called gmapsupp.img and placed on SD card in garmin directory! Map info now says:
CN North America NT 2010.30 - Checked
[1] Canada_mexico
[2] north america 2010 30 unlocked
Weird how I had to merge both to get my 255 to see it. I used the same exact filename when doing them separate. Appreciate your help!

Installing on Garmin C340
Hello,
My Dad's got an old Garmin C340. I plan on updating that device using Mapsource and only installing the NA maps without Canada or Mexico. Will it delete the old maps on his device when I use Mapsource? The C340 does not mount as a drive so its internal contents are not visible to delete the old gmaprom.img file, hence the question.

HI, I used the CN NAM Colpmete Unlocked Canada and Mexico Included, the one from the first post. It unloaded a huge 1.2GB file named "kasdksd" I renamed this to CN NAM.RAR and opened the file and extracted the kldfhadhf.img and renamed gmapsupp.img and loaded it into my SD, however, once it finished loading it shuts off the gps?
Can someone help me?
