Again no luck. I got a gmapsupp in unlocked folder,copied to sd card, put to garmin but still no detailed map. It is weird bc I already have a map that is unlocked (from internet) and it is working.

I forgot to mention, I downloaded GarminUnloker from the link but this archive name is 2.4, and the attachement for 5.2 shows me after trying unpacking "unexpected and of archive"

usually just one map is supported per sd but new nuvi models can have more than one-
anyway try to join the 2 maps in one with gmaptool

In "unlocked IMG rename gmapsupp.img and copy in a garmin directory"

I used the file as is "gmapsupp.img" after I deleted the gmapsupp.img. Will this make a difference or is it better to keep the original as is and add the new file to a sim card?

The main reason I've done this update -since I have never updated my device-,was because the other day I had to go to a job interview and couldn't find the freaking street, even postal code option didn't provide directions, so I had to stop by a store and look it up in the map book.
Well, Garmin says V.2011, well the street isn't there yet. So can I get map source and use it as a back-up on the memory card?

No need to have old and new map on device, it could just slow down device or (in some cases) map on SD will not work
Copy old gmapsupp.img on PC and delete it on device, new map on device (if have enough memory)
It is always good to have MapSource version on PC (backup), and you can transfer to device complete map or only part you need

copy it in GarminMobilePC folder but you need the unlock file probably, use jetmouse keygen to unlock it, use your GarminMobilePC id
