    Maps:

If you have a locked Garmin map image [*.img file], you can unlock it on your Mac using the Mac OS X version of gimgunlock v0.03 from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

If you want to create your own full or part img file to load to your unit using MapInstall, search the current map threads from the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for an unlocked gmap folder. To use directly on Mac, just place the entire gmap folder into user/Library/Aplication Support/Garmin/Maps. More info in Post #5 here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

I've been able to successfully install gmap versions of City Navigator north america 2011.20, and i've unlocked in RoadTrip with jetmouse.
the problem i'm getting is that when i want to install maps using Mapinstall, it still says there are locked maps detected.
i'm able to view in roadtrip in high detail but it won't let me do the mapinstall thing.

    any suggestions?

It seems that Mapinstall has integrated similar protection mechanism, as Mapsource - the problem was solved using patched Mapsource (in windows).
You can try the following (requires windows ). Procedure is described here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

If you have parallels, you can do it directly in folder where gmap is (home/library/application support/garmin/maps) - in windows envirionment extract files within the .gmap folder and run un.bat. It should result in a completely unlocked maps.

If you don't have parallels, do the same procedure on windows computer and after having unlocked the map, transfer it to your mac, delete old gmap containing locked map and repeat the instalation. Restart RoadTrip and Mapinstall.

    Feedback would be appreciated-

I have a PC as well, but when i try running the un.bat a cmd window just blinks on and off on the screen and quits on its own. not sure if it altered anything to the gmap folder.
Even on my PC, after inputting device ID and mapid into jetmouse, the key generated unlocks the map for use in mapsource, but it remains locked whenever i run Mapinstall.
not really sure why this is happening

Copy the whole GMAP folder to your windows desktop. Extract unlocking files within the gmap folder. Just click un.bat, CMD windows appears, after a few minutes map is unlocked. Transfer it back to MAC, click it an try to transfer maps. No unlocking codes should be needed.
Entering unlock codes, generated by jetmouse, either to mapsource or to roadtrip, won't solve the problem. These maps require different approach...

Another workaround to install maps with the new unlocking mechanism on a mac is to go back to MapInstall 2.1.0. Available at gawisp dot com slash perry slash macintosh slash MapInstallandMapManagerfortheMac_210.dmg
However, this aproach does not work on the lates garmin devices, e.g. Oregon series with current firmware.

As catymag desribed in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], gmap should be unlocked in windows envirionment, prior to importing it to MAC. To my knowledge, there is no such thing as garmin unlocker (and gmap forder unlocker) that would work in mac.
Mapconverter is used for those maps, that are installed in Garmin directory - newer maps have usually gmap folder instalation - which is very useful for MAC computers - all you have to do is to find gmap foder (usually within mapsource instalation file), unlock it and you are ready for MAC.
