Thread: Garmin Astro 220 Language Needed

Gpsdaemon. The secret line command "gpsdaemon -full" starts the program in a way that it can make dump from a region specified. (in your case you need 0x0E. the main FW). This program is much better than gda.

You should set the unit to garmin interface and aquiring sattelites. Hope that helps.

Ok, i take dwnld the program. Launch the secret command line, and now... i can't resist... i made a flash backuo

So... Now i have to write 0x0E on region dump and click start.

When it finish i have the fw_all.bin; i have to change this file with RGN_TOOL in the firmware that i would to upload with UPDATER on my Astro 200 right?

Yep. It is enough to write 0E or just E in gpsdaemon and the program will do the left. After that merge fw_all.bin (or whaever the name of the result is) with the boot.bin from FW 3.60 or 3.70 (don't think there is much difference) into rgn with RGN_Tool for example.

If you have problems with merge - use gda - it make rgn firmware as result.

I have 2 Astro 220 bought from USA, how can i set the italian menu?
I downloaded the GPSdaemon tool, Opened in full mode:

Select port ----> USB----->OPEN------>Garmin interface------>wrote under "region dump"--->0E----->Start

but nothing happened...
i turned off the gps on the device...
can someone help me plz??

I've a astro 220 with only english language and US basemap, how can I add italian language and europe basemap?
I have also an other issue, I've put in a sd card the TrekMpaItaliav2 unlocked map (I've just copied GMAPSUPP.IMG in /Garmin of sd card) I can see the map in my handset but the quality of the images is really poor, I don't think it should be so poor it is almosf difficult understand the name of the streets....

Hello everyone the dog drivers in our hunting group use the garmin astro 220, but they have the problem that it is in english can someone explain to me how to change it into spanish or even better catalan? You have to change the firmware i believe does this olso imply you will loose the map? Which program do you use for this and can you tell me where to find it?
