Conect nuvi with pc
add finger in uper left corner and when you see Garmin logo add button to lock position and updater.exe will see your nuvi (you have only 10 sec to press dot besdie usb and click OK button)
If you won't try and try to enter in pre boot, then we can't help you.
Hi.
I tried that principle @lolupop000 but no reaction at all.
The only principle that worked on the updater tool the first, and last time I did it was the pressing of the screen on the battery icon while the device was up and running. I do not have the possibility of doing that in the boot screen as I have no battery icon.
Tried even @TUPLI -s principle of downloading those files and getting them into the garmin device, but nothing again.
The thing is that my computer detects my garmin device but only as a drive, the updater tool does not though.
Does anybody have an idea of what next to try?
Maybe some files in the device have to be altered to make it react.
If you have Garmin drivers in your pc and you get Garmin logo at nuvi start then you can get preboot mode and use Updater.exe. This is undeniable.
You have to navigate to get to the good.

I'm probably doing something wrong.
I read the post that @voyager56 posted and said:
"I don't know what sequence did use use for preboot but for Nuvi 765T use the following method:
Power off and USB cable in PC but not Nuvi. Hold finger on the upper right corner of the screen. Slide to Power on, Slide to lock, and quickly Insert USB cable."
I don't know all the parameters.
How long should I hold my finger in that position (when I turn it on),before I put it in the lock position?
I did this sequence:
Turned it on while holding my finger on the upper right corner of the screen. As the screen lit up,immediately I put it in lock position, and put the usb in the device A.S.A.P.
Correct me if I am doing something wrong?

Keep on pressing till the update is done, dont leave it.
Better to drag the file in Updater before starting preboot mode,so when Updater sees it you can click it easily without any problem.
But read this thread for how to do.

I dont know how is in your Nuvi model, but with mine for example I shut nuvi down ,then attach it USB , start it pressing and holding , as soon as I see it on Updater I click OK

This is Wrong:
You must do this:Power off and USB cable in PC but not Nuvi. Hold finger on the upper right corner of the screen. Slide to Power on, Slide to lock, and quickly Insert USB cable."
How long should I hold my finger in that position (when I turn it on),before I put it in the lock position?Power off and USB cable in PC but not Nuvi. Hold finger on the upper LEFT corner of the screen. Slide to Power on, Slide to lock, and quickly Insert USB cable."
You must hold finger all the time on screen.
When you Slide to Power on, Slide to lock, and quickly Insert USB cable, you must still hold the upper left corner of the screen and when updater.exe see your nuvi click on OK button. (you have only 10 sec to click OK button when updater recognize your nuvi)
When you run updater.exe and flesh start and when you see on nuvi screen Loader then you release finger from screen or you can hold finger all the time when nuvi flesh.

Well, you are both right (or both wrong) depending on which way you look at it (or how you look at the nuvi, lol!). The actual RIGHT side of the Nuvi is on your LEFT side as you look at it . Granted, most ppl say the left or right side of something, e.g. 'my driveway is on the left side of my house') when they should say for clarity, 'my driveway is on your left side as you look at my house'. However, once you are in the house, you think of the driveway as being on the right. Ah, semantics... wars have been fought over them i'm sure...... Peace, brothers.

I suggest to try both lol and center too, regarding hold and press position on 7xx I had doubts too about it and made a web search yesterday night . Result: in some forums thread I've read "center" of the screen in some "right" in some "left" in some just hold power button, so I thought as voyager56 seems to be a 765 owner, better to leave his instructions like they are written in his post.
May be does it depend on different 7xx models?
