Hi Butters. Thanks for your patience. I tried to install the V5.5 original firmware with Garmin Express. It says you're up to date. After disconnecting it still won't boot Gets to the blue Garmin screen then switches off. I'm not sure if that's how you said I must reinstall the V5.5 firmware. If not how do I flash the firmware and where do I get it from?
............. How was it 'patched' any why? 3597's firmware doesn't have MSV presently so there's no need to patch with the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. It can simply use maps unlocked with latest gimgunlock.
..........................
Don't put the GCD file back, it's not needed anyway. Maybe the map on the card is faulty. Remove the microSD card if it's still in the device, then flash the device with ORIGINAL (not patched and not cured) V5.50 firmware as an RGN in preboot and see if it boots. If it boots properly, turn it off and put the card back in to test.
Report back and don't worry as we have plenty more to try in steps if that doesn't work. Don't forget to tell us in full detail what you did first before this happened.

Please read my previous post and address the points in red bold. I can't help further until you do exactly what I suggested, you MUST load as an RGN file in preboot and you can load the original firmware using the Cure3 application (you should still have the original GCD that you used to make the cure RGN firmware from). You make the original RGN that the same way you made the cure RGN in the app except you press 'Original' not 'Cure' button. Follow this:

When the Updater.exe GUI opens, leave it visible on your desktop. Connect a USB cable to a REAR port of your PC (not thru a hub). Ensure the 3597 is completely OFF and put it into preboot by holding the screen and connect the USB cable to it which will power it on. At the very instant you see the device details appear in the window next to 'USB Device' on the GUI press 'OK' or hit enter key on your keyboard. Keep firm and steady pressure on the screen until the flash finishes:

If you're not sure that you still have the original V5.50 firmware GCD, you can get another copy here:
I don't know if the unit was patched, I assumed it was after it would not read the map on the SD card. As you instructed above I downloaded the original GCDFile__550.gcd and rebooted the GPS. I used the original GCD file in the Garmincure3 uploader. The uploader showed that it could see the GPS.

When I clicked OK on the uploader the following error message came up.

The GPS stays stuck with the image "loading...." all the time. I left it for a long time then disconnected. Still no joy. Switches on the, gets the Garmin Logo then switches off.
It's dropped connection in preboot for some reason and that's happened after the flash started. Try other USB cables and make sure you use only a rear USB port on the PC, no hub. Instantly you see the device details appear click 'OK' or just hit enter key on PC kb and maintain the pressure firm and steady on the device screen.
PS: Don't have the microSD card inserted when you flash.
Thank you very much I used an original Garmin cable but it still kept on giving an error message. I then realised that Garmin Express kept on loading as I plugged in the GPS. I uninstalled Garmin Express and it then went on to load!
Probably it was running in the background. If active, garmin software will try to 'grab' a device if it detects one being connected. So you needed to only change that in GE's Settings (Gear symbol) and uncheck the box "Always keep Garmin Express running in the background" to stop it loading silently on PC booting rather than uninstall it completely. Or for a single session right click the GE icon in the system tray and quit it.
