    Re Post #787
Is this still the current method for SD flashing of Nuvi 1300 to get LA/JCV and SLI (speed limits) displaying with Splash 1340-50? If yes, then the link on Zippy Share for the 1104 is DEAD! Should I use the link for -
"Enable future over SD (Full credits to acleite)
    Zippyshare.com - 1xxx_TTSLAJCV_620_SD_ACL.rar"

My GPS is US model 1300LMT (B1104 with SW 6.2 and currently splash 1340.00) with locked/code US Lower 48 states CN2014.40 on Internal memory and unlocked AUNZ CN2014.40 on SD card. I am mostly now using the AUNZ since living back in AUS. Have unlocked and installed SUNA Traffic and CYCLOPs POI cameras for AUS since Garmin refused to transfer my LMT from USA to AUS versions :-/ so I don't want to lose (or re do) those features being doing a hard reset if possible. My Question is: Once I have the correct rar file downloaded do I just have to put the unzipped files on an empty SD card and shut down and restart to effect the FLASH? And will everything else I have set up (including my favorites and Eco history etc.) still be on the Internal memory for USA and AUS? Or do I have to save everything and piece it all back together after the FLASH?

And one last thing - my model was purchased without Bluetooth - but is the functionality/chip on the PCB (like my daughter's 1390 has) and just needing some software/firmware to make it active? The help on the 1300 tells all about BT and phone use so I thought maybe was just "disabled" like the disable for LA, JCV and SLI?
Thanks for great work over the years.

Show us dir where you have your JCV files ?
Your nuvi is not seeing the JCV files in the Inventory
    Hey there Dasilvarsa
Could not see in your reply to Kova78 where the newest Basemap (.img and .sum) can be found. Mine was original from 2011 but has been deleted (probably when I tried to make space on the 2Gb internal memory of my USA Nuvi 1300 (B1104 SW6.2) but does not seem to affect the AUNZ CN2014.40 on the SD which I am mostly using since coming back from USA to AUS in late 2011. And could its being missing be a reason for NOT getting JCV and LA and SLI? Or is that just because I have Splash 1340.00 and not yet 1340-50?
    Thanks

If it's not there in your Inventory then as dasilvarsa said the JCV file is not being recognised for some reason even though the file path is correct and it's actually enabled on the device. That only leaves the file. So if the JCV version matches the map version that it's teamed with and the file and folder are correctly named, then maybe the file itself is corrupt.

The final question is have you hard reset or cleared Non-volatile memory on your unit?
    Hi Neil
From a closer reading of this LOOOONG thread I see that you are here in AUS and have a 1300 (like me) and have maybe the most in depth knowledge on the subject of this thread...

Please offer your help with my present situation outlined therein.
    Thanks HEAPS in advance ..

    G'day Phantomguy,
Splash D1340-00 does not give SLI, LA or JCV. You need to flash the senior logo file to give Splash D1340.50 to enable those features. 1300 doesn't have a BT module so you can't enable Bluetooth. The flash won't disable your POIs [e.g. Cyclops] or traffic subscriptions.

Using the unit without a basemap will run you into trouble eventually. Load V5.01 from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. You don't need .sum files, they're only checksum files and can be deleted or left, it doesn't matter.

Easiest way for you to flash is to use acleite's universal microSD card method. Look at the base of Post #1. This will flash your non-MTK US 1300 and backup NV as well, extract it onto a clean card, insert it to nuvi and turn it on. Let it reboot before removing the card:
    Spoiler: Click
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Keep the files which are created in the root of the card, especially backup41.bin. Please backup your full file system before the flash [especially your favourites], and clear NV or hard reset before and after flashing.

PS: Mate, don't do consecutive posts. That just makes the thread even LOOOONGER. I've combined them for you. Better to use the edit button.

Regarding your PMs Phantomguy the thread is still very much active as you can see by the fact that you received 2 replies, 1 hr and 2 hrs after your first post.

Regarding your NA purchased 1300. It is almost certainly Hardware ID [HWID] 0972. There were very few 1300 produced with the MTK chip which is HWID 1104. The pack i've made for you using acleite's method will only flash a non-MTK chip HWID 0972 and will be ignored by any other hwid numbered unit. However, it will also backup both region 16 and importantly backup region 41 which could be used to recover from nonvol corruption in the future. Read about it here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

If you're concerned and/or confused just do this:

    1. Back up your internal files.

    2. Ensure the unit's OFF.

    3. Extract my pack onto a clean mircoSD.

    4. Turn the unit on [you should see 'Loader'/'Software Loading' appear on the screen during the boot process]. Let it complete and then it should reboot normally.

    6. If it doensn't flash [ie just boots normally without 'Loader' appearing], then use the universal file posted kindly by dasilvarsa which will flash either HWID but won't give you a backup of region 41. In that case i highly recommend that you do that separately, instructions are in the thread linked above.

    5. The SLI and LA functions are drawn from the CN map. You will need to obtain the JCV file matching your CN version for Junction View to work. Each map version has it's own matching jcv file. Look in the current [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for this file: D2563140A.JCV. If you want to keep using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] look for D2563130A.JCV instead, or if you've got the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] look for D2003140A.JCV or if space is tight, use the smaller D2867100A.JCV with less views. You can place the JCV file either on the unit in a folder named JCV in .System folder, or to save internal space it can go on a microSD card [x:/Garmin/JCV/*.jcv]. Never have older version jcv files or from another map type [i.e. sensis with HERE] together. Delete old files when updating the map even if you don't also take the new jcv file.

If you'd like to confirm your HWID before you start look in your unit's Inventory where you found it's Splash version [hold Battery symbol in top RH corner of main screen for ~5-6 seconds, then press Next>Start Test>More. In the very top 3 lines in the second field is your unit's HWID, you'll see B0972 or B1104. You can also find it in the unit's GarminDevice.xml file which is in it's Garmin folder. Look towards the start for <PartNumber>006-B0972-00</PartNumber> or <PartNumber>006-B1104-00</PartNumber>. I'm sure it'll be 0972.
Can't get more tailored help than that Mate.

Thx heaps Neil for your detailed reply. Forgive me for not including "Quote" of your detailed reply - trying to save thread length now. :-/ Also I feel like an idiot but how do I "click" LIKES? The only icon I see is a Facebook one and I don't use Facebook? Edit: Sorry I found the button now - silly me (again embarrassed)!

First let me say my Nuvi IS B1104 in both Unit and GarminDevice.xml as -

<Model><PartNumber>006-B1104-00</PartNumber><SoftwareVersion>540</SoftwareVersion><Description>nüvi 1300</Description></Model> --- BUT NOW is "620" not "540 since last GE update.

So I guess I disregard the advice given for non-MTK chips (as mine will be an MTK chip. Right?). And DO NOT run the Garmin.rar you attached for non-MTK chips. Right?

BTW @ dasilvarsa - is the file you attached in your reply (post #927) for my MTK? chip or the non-MTK? (Scared crazy to not use wrong flash). Neil advises me it works for both - but no backup of region 41.
Guys, what are these "regions" 16 and 41? Geographical? or what? Sorry for my ignorance. I would prefer to use the one FLASH specifically for my chip and which does ALL the "backups" - just want to do this ONCE and right way - Thx.

The 2014.40 Maps for AUNZ I am using on SD are unlocked SENSIS obtained from forum ************** before I realised I had registered here 1 1/2 years ago (embarrassed).
And I have BOTH files -"D2003140A.JCV or if space is tight, use the smaller D2867100A.JCV" - already in BOTH the SD\Garmin\JCV folder and the .System\JCV folder (just in case???). [Cyclops Safety Cams/Zones POI and Suna Traffic already working well].

Wont do anything until I hear back from y'all.

It's fine not to include a quote when you're doing a following post, in fact it's better that way for the very reason you've stated.

Ok, you've got one of the Mediatek [MTK] chip 1300s, rare in AU. 620 is just the software [firmware] version, i.e. version 6.20 which is the latest. My pack for 0972 would simply be ignored by your MTK unit, the same as it will ignore the 3 other folders in Acleite's pack supplied by dasilvarsa and would only flash from the contents of the folder named 1104.

All garmin units have a section of the flash which is not user accessible. It's divided into 'regions' [rgn] numbered 1 to 255, but nowhere all are used. Region 16 contains the logo splash, that's what gets replaced with the 'senior' models rgn16 [16.bin in the Garmin folder] to enable the extra features. Region 41 is encrypted and contains vital and unit-specific info, including unlock codes. In the event that a unit gets badly bricked and is not recoverable any other way, it may be possible to fix it by restoring rgn41 from a backup [41.bin].

When you get this working DON'T have more than one JCV file and only in one location. So DON'T have them both, or one duplicated on both the unit and microSD. Choose one or the other but never both. I'd get rid of the smaller one. You must make sure that you always have the right one for a new map and get rid of any older version map's jcv files too.

For the flash, you can do a 41 backup using the guide in that thread and then flash with the universal pack. Or you can flash with this pack specifically only for 1104 MTK units with the rgn41 backup included:

Thx enormously Neil - you are a WIZARD. Everything now working on Simulation - keen to try it out for REAL tomorrow am. LA works, JCV works, and SLI works too. You guys are amazing.

Now just one last point for revisiting - Bluetooth. My daughters 1390 has it but I didn't think to ask in 2011 when I purchased this 1300 - and I have no BT system in my 2007 Honda Accord. Do you or anyone else know (or have stripped the unit down to see?) if the PCB has either a BT chip on it (and not active) or has an empty socket for a BT chip. If it needs a chip pressed it I would like to try to source it and install for BT function. Considering how similar the 13XX were I would think that the PCB are all the same and just different features activated depending on the Model and maybe needs one of those other [Regn] you talk about.

I realise this might be slightly OT but it IS a feature (albeit HW) of the 13xx that I would hope to activate???
    Any ideas?
    Thx again
    PG

PS the Basemap link you provided about 4 posts ago to a share server does NOT work. Could you supply another link? Thx. PG

Yep, if you want to continue it open a thread in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Or if you prefer just send me a Private Message and i'll move/copy and edit the existing posts here to a new thread for you.

PS: This is fully OT, but whenever i have connected any BT device to my phone i've been given the choice to 'connect automatically'. In my Nokia phones it could also be changed later under Bluetooth>Paired Devices>Options>Set as [un]authorised. If you have a Nokia PM me and i can help you with that.

EDIT: Some posts copied to a discussion thread created here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and edited accordingly. All OT posts then moved to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
