@kopca
Connect it to Garmin Express and most of the files you need will be offered including the OEM detail map entitlement. Because GE won't give you a basemap, you can get one from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you then need other files not offered by GE such as Keyboards etc post again saying what you're missing.
@Butters
No, that is not posibile, probablly because I was format Nuvi first with Windows format, later with RMPrepUSB
And GE not recognize, maybe if I put some files (like garmindevice.html) it might recognize?
@kopca
1. Is the device bricked and you still have cure firmware on board?
2. Does it boot fully?
3. If 'no' to 1 & 2, try adding a Garmin folder in root.
Hello from Japan
My Garmin Edge 705 Japan version is now revived.
By accident, I formatted the inside system flash.
Thanks a lot !!
[Approach S2J SOLVED]
What happened:
I had formatted my Approach S2J flash drive and the Master Reset was not able to recreate the Garmin folder and the GarminDevice.xml file so I was unable to update via Garmin Express.
Since the Time Zone file and the Course file were missing from the flash drive, the time would not update to correct time zone and of course, the watch would not find any golf course.
What save the day:
I used several software to format the flash drive, but what worked was RMP, following the setting in the 1st post.
After the format, the watch successfully created the missing folder and file.
What remain to be improved:
The flash drive is 32MB but after the reformat, it is only 14.7MB
Still, I can load 1 of the 4 courses region but I will check how I can regain the missing space!
Anyway, Kudo to this formatting software & the developer
Are you sure in RMPrepUSB's GUI you had the partition size field in 1 set to "MAX" rather than that specific size in MB, also in field 4 selected radio button for FAT32 not FAT16. What does Windows Disk Management now show as its file format when you connect the Approach in Mass Storage Mode, also does it show a 14.7MB partition followed by unallocated space for example?
