Final update on the problem. After successfully flashing the unit with the cured rgn, I tried Webupdate to reinstall the update and it, it installed OK but still cannot get the unit going. Before taking the dive to reformat the internal flash drive, I thought why not just rerun the cure3 using the original option. Lo and behold, after flashing the unit with the rgn created using the original option, the GPS now boots up OK and appears to be working as it should now. Another success story and a happy camper!

Well, it's quite a co-incidence that you connected to WebUpdater while it still had Cure3 fw loaded. That's re-downloaded a new healthy gupdate.gcd, thus overwriting the corrupt .gcd loaded by GarminExpress. Then when you loaded original fw made by Cure3 in the form of an RGN file it's been able to boot fully because the actual cause of the 'bricking' had been removed. The same result would have occurred had you simply connected to PC and removed the damaged GCD using Windows Explorer. It's important to note a very relevant point, which is that Cure3 fw CANNOT boot the device and in fact that's the entire purpose of it. It prevents any files (bad or good) from loading and intentionally stalls the boot process on the splash screen without any files loaded. However that re-enables mass storage mode so that files can be removed or as a last resort a re-format done. Glad you're sorted anyway.

    hi guys,
    i have nuvi 2559LM <PartNumber>006-B1947-00</PartNumber> version 7.5.
i tried to patch it to be able to load patched maps.
i downloaded GarminCure3.exe v0.1 and updater v2.8 plus IMGPatcher v2.20, then i downloaded firmware v8.80 for this unit
i loaded the firmware into IMGPatcher then created GUPDATE_Patched.GCD, which i loaded into GarminCure3 then created the rgn file and flashed it using updater.
now my unit keeps only displaying GARMIN logo and is being connected as mtp to computer.
the preboot method doesn't work anymore (left corner).
    any help appreciated.
    thanks

    Default Cure3

You need to use an original .gcd with Cure3 as the input file, Check Cure then make Firmware

the problem is the unit can't preboot, whether pushing upper corners (left /right) or down corners.

    @driversat
US/EU nuvi 25x9 devices have two different firmware versions. You've indicated you have the "C4" one. Is there any possibility you've used HWID1758 fw instead of HWID1947 (C4) fw in your manipulations?

Create on a SD card the path 'Garmin\Updater\1947\' and in this path copy a 'ldr.bin' file (not nuvi 2559LM 'ldr.bin'). Insert the card and start the device. When you see on the screen message 'loader', restart the device without the card. If the message 'System software missing' apears, that means your device is in preboot mode.

hi, i've used the firm downloaded by GarminExpress, found in .System folder of the device, so it's obviously 1947.

ok boss, but where is that ldr.bin file located please?

    edit:
1- in My Computer > nuvi 2559 > Internal Storage : i deleted all folders and files, to see if it asks for firmware missing, but now device not recognized by GarminExpress nor Webupdater.
2- in RGN_Tool i saved boot.ini from original GUPDATE.GCD (HWID1947), renamed it to LDR.bin and placed it in SD as mentioned then restart it...but device remains in GARMIN logo and computer detects it quickly as MTP.
3- internal storage after several reboots now contains a text file named ld.txt and inside: 4b91844b-09db-4dd0-a2a2-21e4a5ca8267

Deleting internal folders and file won't invoke "system software missing", erasing region 14 will however. When the device cannot find the 'system software' (main firmware) it defaults to preboot mode.

When you ran Ldr.bin from microSD did you see 'loader' or 'software loading' message on screen or was the card ignored?

there is no Loader on screen, the device displays Garmin then immediately connects to PC if usb cable present, else device goes off after 5s.
