Hi Catymag, I woul like to install several maps (Mapsource) om my PC, before transfering (parts of) maps to the GPS. The C-partition of my HD does not have so much free space, but my H-partition has plenty of space. When installing maps, the installer aks where to install the map. Even when I choose the H-partition, maps will be installed in C:\Documents and settings\All users\Application data\Garmin\maps. How can I get the installed maps on the H-partition? Thanks for your help.

you can't change destination for maps in gmap format. the only solution is to copy all subirectories from ...\GARMIN\Maps to directory on drive H: and than make junction from ...\GARMIN\Maps to your new directory on drive H:. This will work if you have NTFS on system drive. For creating junction dowload junction.exe from Sysinternals on microsoft site.

If anypone has an Oregon x50 series, maps can have any name ending in .img. So Europe 2010 ould be EUNT2010.IMG. This way you can have multiple maps and know by nfilename which is which.
This way you can have an8GB card with maps you are not using at the moment in a top level directory calles say 'Unused Maps' and jus move file to /Garmin/ when you want to use the map.

Thanks for this information, now to discover if my GPS will support More than one gmapsupp.img file.
If so that will make my life easier, if not this information will also make my life easier.

Quick question I downloaded a unlocked northamerican map for my 205w but there is no gmapsupp.img in my garmin folder. Is the gmapprom.img the same as the gmapsupp.img? can the gmapsupp be written to gmapprom?

Hi, thanks for the useful tip! Any suggestions on easily switching between the map sets when working on Garmin Mobile XT?
For example, I have two different maps of the same are each having its own specifics. Having the limitation of 4 maps that can be handled at a time, you have to switch between map sets if you have a total of more than 4.
What would you recommend for easy switching between map sets on Windows Mobile platform? (Consider we have here Nordic + Eastern Europe + Russia maps). Thank you in advance.

Alternatively, you may use the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] tool---an all-in-one solution providing functionality for creating softlinks, hardlinks and junctions (you may use fsutil, mklink as well).
