Default OSMAND - Navigating with a GPX files for each days drive.

I am 4 week away from a trip to USA and driving Route 66 using GPX files I have created using Google My Maps.

I intend to use OSMAND+ for the navigation but am finding myself getting frustrated with it's operation, be nice if they had a complete User Manual .

The GPX files have been copied to my TAB and I am in the process of testing them and checking that the route is still as I originally planned.

For this testing process, I am loading the first days travel GPX file and I can see the stars and route on the map.

The first problem is how to use the first and last way-points as the start and finish of the navigation. I know I can manually type in the details of the 2 points but surely there is an easier way to do it.

The second problem is how to remove the first days travel with stars and route lines, so I can then load the next GPX file. Does the route disappear once you have driven it? as I am not actually driving, just doing a visual of the route.

Appreciate any help anyone can give.

    Bob

OK, I think I have solved my first problem "The first problem is how to use the first and last way-points as the start and finish of the navigation. I know I can manually type in the details of the 2 points but surely there is an easier way to do it.
    "
    .

I have used Configure Map / GPX Files and selected the files which then displays "Show GPX data" and I now have the route displayed with the Start flag and the route but there is no Finish flag, just the red stars for the way points along the route.

Oh well, that is one step forward and one step back.

I have been doing some more googling and I found this tutorial that might help anyone else having similar problems to me.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

If anyone can point me to more tutorials it would be appreciated as I find the OSMAND sit very hard to follow, it would also help if you could download it as pdf.

I just tried that and yes, I now have the start and finish but there is a straight from the finish point to the start point.

Can anyone say why it is there and how do I get rid of it?

I just found an answer to another question - how to delete a route that was used for testing.

I found this on [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] "Sometimes after deleting gpx tracks, waypoints, favourites etc. they are still displayed on the OsmAnd map, if this happens forcing the App. to stop and then re-starting usually clears these items" and it does work.

You can use a tool like this to make your tracks and edit what you have made.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Here is a sample screen shot and the GPX file

You start at a point and click the way you want to go.

Each turn in the road has to be clicked on.

Once you have made your track and saved it close the website to make you next track.

That way you will not get a link like you show in your screen shot.

Make sure you start in the correct place and end where you want to finish.

Thanks asprin624, after many hours of work I found Google My Maps works very well, only improvement would be for it to save the files in .gpx as well as .kml. As it will only save them as kml I passed those files through [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to convert them to the final .gpx.

Now after talking to myself with this thread I think I have finally got it all sorted and hopefully I have help others that follow me with similar problems.

It has been a very long haul, it was back in May 2019 after a trip to UK trying to use a Navman to get us around, it failed of quiet a few occasions so I started looking into an app to use and OSMAND ticked all the boxes.

We leave in a little over three weeks for a 6 week holiday to USA driving Route 66 but I think I have finally cracked that nut.
