nextgen iGO for Android head unit

    Hi all.

I've been using iGO on car's android head units for about 10 years already. My 1st 3 years was on an Android 4 system (iGO Basar if I remember correctly) which was great at the time. Since then I'm using an Android 8 system (iGO nextgen with skin by pongo) which was okay at best, will explain later.

Firstly thank you for all the options regarding skins!

I'm in no mood to replace the head unit as it integrates very well with the vehicle's canbus.

Let me explain my problem with the Androin 8 head unit and iGO nextgen:
I'm always getting a lot of route calculations due to the car symbol slow to respond (already turned, but symbol still carrying on straight) then after a couple of meters the symbol is back on track). This only happens when using iGO, never when using Google Maps or Waze. I realy like iGO and would like to continue using it, being off-line most of the time.

I've read numerous threads on this forum regarding skins and sys.txt, gps accuracy and online service etc. But up to now I could still not solve this problem, and I spent hours and hours installing APKs and skins...

Could somebody please point me to the best iGO option and skin to suite

using HERE 2024 Q2 africa maps.

    Thank you all

I have read about this problem many times in my long iGO experience - and it has not really been solved yet, as it is related to the calculation of the GPS protocol for the iGO app.
You can easily see whether the real GPS (point on the map) matches the navigation arrow or not if you enter the following in SYS.txt:
    [interface]
    show_detailed_posinfo=1
    +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
PS: even if Android 8 is specified, that doesn't mean that it was actually installed and not "tweaked". The CPU also plays a role

    hello JacquesV.
im sure the moderators-masters and experienced users will guide you through your problem.
i also have an android head unit, with igo luna skin by pongo many years now ... (gps antenna in the middle of dashboard). never had so much delay and response time on route... maybe under bridges or inside tunnels.... my opinion is sys settings and head unit settings.. (igo apk all rights- clean install etc) i will follow your post .. wish you the best solution!

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I can see the dark blue dot little behind the car symbol on the map, it seems to be jumping after the car symbol, like as if the car symbol moves forward smoothly and then the blue dot follows in a not so smooth way. Hope it makes sense and that other users might have a solution.

Hi. can you maybe help me out with the version you're using so that I can search for it and try it?

and thus you have proof that the GPS signal is not correctly recognized and processed. The point normally shows the actual position determined, while iGO (according to instructions) keeps the navigation arrow on the road.
It was mainly this bad in the iGO Primo days. Maybe you should try it with a current Nextgen (e.g. iGO_Pal 9.18.27.719974)🤔
** but no guarantee for my statement 😉

PS: I personally advise against NG_Luna, as this app is even more labor-intensive. In addition, there are only maps for the EU or USA

Online services in Africa are ... a mirage

I would say that the signal reception is not good - antenna, connector...

However, something else is suspicious to me.
Disable WiFi on device, use physical GPS receiver only (device settings) and then try Google and Waze.

    And why the skin?
First, the software is set up well, and only then the skin is installed

The topic is redundant, but let it be for now

    Hi

I've tested today with off-line map on google map without data connection and the problem does not exsist.

I've never had a clean install of iGO, software including skin was pre-installed when I bought the unit. I also never tried to install a clean package. I will try to do this next.

Thank you for the reply, I will stop pursuing a solution on this thread if that would be beter for all. But I will post if I ever find a solution.

    Regards
