Default Kenwood DNN770HD with built in Garmin update maps help

The kenwood site says that only Kenwood/Garmin maps will work. I just bought the head unit in January of this year and the map is outdated. They want me to pay $110 to download the updated maps and even then it's only 2015.2 instead of the 2016.1 that was just released.

Can anyone help me? Can I use a SD card with unlocked Garmin map? Does anyone have a Kenwood/Garmin updated map? I guess what I really need are the .asr and .srx files

    Thanks in advance

Maybe try this method: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. It has been reported to work for other units as well, but not DNN770HD as yet.
